According
to OSHA
and the
CDC for
cleanup
of
Blood
borne
Pathogens
and some
airborne
Pathogens,
like
Hepatitis
A,B,C,
and TB
(Tuberculosis).

"is it

by law
when the
scene is
in a
private
home, to
use a

service"?
It is
not
mandatory,
but it
is
recommended.
When
using a
professional
cleanup
service
you can
feel
safe in

knowledge
that all
of the
infectious
diseases
have
been
removed
and
decontaminated,
and is
no
longer a
health
risk.

Can I
have an
employee
of my
business
clean up
a Crime
or
accident
scene?
Federal
Regulation
29CFR1910.1030
of OSHA,
states
that no
Employee
can be
placed
in a
position
as to be
exposed
to
Bio-Hazardous
waste
without
first:
1)
Receiving
blood
borne
pathogen
(BBP)
training.
2)
Having a
written
BBP
exposure
control
plan.
3)
Having
been
provided
with
personal
protective
equipment
(PPE).
4)
Having
been
offered
Hepatitis
B
vaccine
and
exposure
evaluation
with a
follow
up.
5) Being
provided
with a
method
to
remove
and
properly
store
the
Bio-Hazardous
waste in
properly
marked
containers
for
disposal
at an
approved
site.
Only
after
these
five
steps
have
been
met, can
an
Employee
be
required
by their
Employer
to
enter/clean
a
Bio-Hazardous
waste
scene.
